Flues should be inspected periodically & 304 grade stainless steel should last 8 - 10 years. Mild steel flues should last 3 Years
Under no circumstances open the door of the fireplace. This will allow excessive air into the fireplace and make the situation worse. Close the air inlet lever to its bare minimum and leave the fire to burn out
Only use good quality dry hardwood. Never use wet timber or pine combs to make a fire. This will cause the glass to turn black with creosote and it will clogg up the holes in the diffuser and void the warantee. Glass can be cleaned with a good quality household glass cleaner.
Heat generated by the fire cannot and will not break the glass even if you pour a glass of cold water onto it. However the glass will break if impacted by a direct blow. The glass can withstand a temperature of 650 degrees Celcius
The use of wood as fuel is carbon neutral(compared to fossil fuel such as gas or parafin). By burning a piece of timber, the combustion process in our stoves processes the same ammount of CO2 compared to the CO2 used by photosynthesis during its growth. Moreover this amount of CO2 is equal to the CO2 used by the same piece of timber if it is not used as fuel and left to decay. Sustainability of our planet was the motivation into researching unique designs and manufacturing of our stoves.
The unit is of a mild steel construction and finished with a charcoal color wet spray paint(mineral coating). The unit should only be cleaned with a clean damp cloth(no chemicals). Excessive water during cleaning will cause rust to exposed steel. It is normal to experience a slight smokey smell during the first fire. This is caused by paint "flushing" off.
The Amesti heaters are equiped with a double combustion system that minimizes gases and fumes going into the atmosphere. It is this remarkable technology that makes Amesti stoves unique. Please Always use good quality dry wood with less that 25% moisture content. Never over-fire the stove by placing more than allowed amount of wood in the stove during operation.
This is the component that regulates the air into the stove, almost like a volume button on a radio. This diffuser is removable and can be replaced if holes are clogged up or due to old age. If the holes in the diffuser are blocked, the stove will cause smoke in the house. Never operate the stove without the diffuser in place as this will only damage other components in the stove. Periodic inspections must be done to see that the diffuser is good enough to regulate the air into the stove.
Its as simple as lighting a braai. Place a "Blitz" firelighter in the center of the stove and pack some kindle on top. The air-in lever must be completely open during this process. Light the "Blitz" and pack with bigger wood. Allow logs to burn for approximately 5 minutes then shut the door. If the flames pull upwards then the draw in the chimney is good. When the air inlet lever is reduced to half position the fire will just "Simmer". This lever regulates the intensity of fire. Close air inlet lever completely before going to bed.
It is a device used to accelerate the ignition of the heater.
Bricks are there to protect the internal walls of the stove and to help with better combustion. It is also an anaesthetic element.
Never allow children around a burning stove. The stove emits heat from front and sides of the unit and gets extremely hot. Always place a child protection screen around the stove when in use.
The Amesti stove installations must only be done by and Amesti accredited installer.
The most commonly used hardwood in South Africa is Eucalyptus. Please only only dry good quality hardwood in your new stove.
Good quality dry wood burns at an average rate of 1 - 1.5Kg/Hr.
The company that did installation of the stove should be hired to periodically maintain the stove.
Chimney should be swept. Firebox must be cleaned. Firebricks must be replaced if broken. The internal steel plates of the firebox must be inspected. The diffuser must be inspected for blocked holes and cleaned if possible or replaced. If needed, the glass must be cleaned.
If this happens constantly the cause might be an obstruction in the chimney flue or buildup of creosote inside the chimney walls due to the use of wet timber. If there is smoke during a windy day then there is turbulence(Negative Retractions) and it is recommended to extend the chimney. There will always be a small return of fumes when opening the door for recharging firewood therefore this operation must be done quickly or when wood inside the firebox is nearly consumed.
